Luke 8:43-48
What is your Issue?
In this familiar reading of the Holy Bible to most Christians and to all who reads the bible. We find the story about the woman who had the Issue of blood for twelve years, but she had faith. She had faith that the doctors could heal her; she had so much faith that she spent all she had. She proberly even sold some household items to get the money to pay those doctors to perform something that they could not perform.
For twelve years she kept the faith that a change was going to come, for twelve years she didn't throw in the towel, for twelve years she wanted deliverance from an embarrassing state in her life. For twelve long years she was called unclean, and if she was married her husband properly divorced her, for twelve years she was not acceptable in the public's eyes, but she had faith. During the twelve years she grew weaker and weaker in the natural due to the lost of a never ending flow of blood from her,but she had faith. She didn't let her issue move her faith, she didn't let her issue tell her that she was doomed, she had faith.
Well, her faith bought her to the day she was waiting for. I believe she had heard about a Savior named Jesus, I believe she heard how he healed a woman who had seven demons, I believe she heard how he rebuked the winds and raging sea and said be still, I believe she heard how he cast out a legion (many) of demons from a single man, I believe she knew that Jesus was on his way to Jairus's house to wake up his daughter whom all thought was dead.
I'm sure she knew all these things, but she had faith. All she had was faith, she spent everything she had, no one wanted to be bothered with her, she was unclean, she was embarrassed, her own family kicked her to the curb and she had an issue of blood that never stopped. She's weak and weary but strong in faith even though her life was in an almost death state, but she had faith. The Bible says that the crowd following Jesus was many, so much so that they pressed against Jesus, but the woman pressed also.
While pressing, her faith told her that if she could just touch the hem of his garment she would be made whole. Although she was weak, she use every ounce of energy she had left to reach Jesus, she got through the crowd and touched the Masters garment. Neither this woman's name nor age was given in the bible for the sole purpose to get us believers to come to the realization that it is impossible to please God without faith.
We, like this woman have issues we face every day, they may not be for twelve years but we still experience issues in this life . Issues that we ignore or put on someone else's shoulders, issues at home, work and even in the church. But this story lets us know that Jesus is going to pass by one day and we need to have the faith it take to be able to reach out and touch the very hem of his garment for our own issues.
Jesus said that if we have the faith of a grain on mustard seed..its enough. It's enough if we believe in our hearts, its enough if we give the issue to Jesus. And leave it with Jesus. We give our issues to God and he doesn't fix them in our time and we take them back and make them worst, that's when your faith becomes your issue. God does not have an issue, we have an issue with our faith when we put it in Gods hands and not have the patience to wait until it comes to pass.
We don't show God that we have faith in him when we dip and dab back into the issue that we gave him to solve for us. We show him that we don't trust him, let alone the faith in him to believe he will fix the issue. God is able to do anything but fail. All he asks of us is to believe and keep the faith.
Things always seem hard at first, but when we begin to truly realize who Jesus really is, and what he's all about, we will began to think on heavenly places, we will began to cast all our cares on him, we will even forgive others more easily than before. We will begin to understand that it's not about us, but about Jesus. In knowing that it's about Jesus, we will also know who holds tomorrow..and keeps us in his hands if we don't let our faith become our issue. |
